Four writing tips for clear and persuasive texts
Want to get more results with your texts? Today we have prepared four writing tips for you, which you can immediately apply in practice. Read them quickly and take advantage of the benefits. Which tips do you apply?
Tip 1: Set a clear goal
Think about what you expect from the reader. Do you have a clear call to action? Actively ask for a response by using 'contact us via' and 'sign up by'. In addition, make sure that your goal is clear and concrete for the reader. What do they get in return when they take action? Have you indicated where people can go for more information?
Tip 2: Can it go? In other words, KHW?
Is your text concisely written? By applying KHW, you will find out what 'need to know' and 'nice to know' is. Look at your own web page and think about every piece of text: Can It Go? Avoid passive words such as will, may, and go and make your text concrete by replacing words such as "soon" with an exact date. All with the aim of steering the customer towards conversion and removing distractions.
Tip 3: Make use of power words
Power words play a major role in convincing your visitor. They are words and terms that respond to emotions and allow visitors to perform a certain action or action. You can apply these power words on the basis of Cialdini's 6 influencing principles. For example, can you respond to scarcity by using power words such as 'exclusive', 'limited availability' or 'temporary'? Or on authority by using the words 'recommended by', 'certified' and 'warranty'?
Tip 4: Focus on the reader
With each sentence, ask yourself: what's in it for my reader? For example, replace "Our goal is to give our patients the best care." with "As a patient, you get the best care with us." In addition, speak the same language as your reader. Is the abbreviation you want to use immediately recognised or would it be better to explain it a little more?
