Cultural platform Alkmaar

Theater de Vest and Grote Kerk Alkmaar are two well-known institutes in Alkmaar and the surrounding area. Theater De Vest and Grote Kerk Alkmaar have been one family since 2019. What was still missing was a web platform on which all the offerings came together. After an intensive process, Basic Orange has built a new, overarching site. The goal: to bring three unique sites within one Umbraco CMS with a lot of flexibility for branding and space for sub-sites. By bundling the offer and presenting it in various ways, we inspire visitors and entice them to take a look at another location.

The challenge

It was a challenge to organise all the individual sites on one platform without losing the Google ranking. In addition, we wanted to create a clear and inspiring customer journey for the visitor. Another major challenge was the implementation of two new systems: the planning system that forwards all events to the site and the TIX ticketing system. So it was exploring, discovering and switching together. All this together made the job very challenging and required a lot of flexibility.

Theater De Vest has been a customer of Basic Orange for more than 15 years. We also researched other partners. Basic Orange is still the best fit for our goals. Specialist in Umbraco; a very nice open source CMS that offers a lot of flexibility. At the start of the process, Basic Orange UX did research for us to test the user-friendliness of your website. The learnings from this have been taken and processed.

The end result is successful. It has become a fresh, clear and cheerful platform. That is exactly what we want to radiate. We have already received a lot of positive reactions, but we are not satisfied with this. As a next step, we want to install Hotjar to see how people move through the site. With these results and the customer surveys, we periodically plan optimisation sprints.
