Four actionable tips for better social media content

Looking for the right content for your social media channels? Anyone can create a social media account, however, the success of the channel depends on how you use it. Here are 4 actionable tips for your social media content that you can get started with right away!

Tip 1: Personal content

Personal content still works best on social channels. Let your followers take a look behind the scenes. In the case of a Schouwburg, for example, you can do a personal debriefing of the film or theatre performance together with colleagues. Or share personal content by having a different employee tell you a tip or trick every month. By sharing expertise, you simultaneously apply Cialdini's influencing principle of 'Authority'. Two birds with one stone.

Tip 2: Give your customer the floor

Personal experiences of others have a big impact on your audience's purchasing decision. Cialdini's Social Proof principle boils down to people doing what they see other people doing. Do you know customers who are willing to share a short story about their experience? They can tell you why they chose your organisation, how they liked it and what they got out of it. By sharing this story in the form of a short video, you optimally respond to the emotion of your positive customer. Prefer to be anonymous? For example, share a positive review of your website.

In honour of our anniversary, we asked (former) employees and customers to tell a fun anecdote from our 25-year history.

Tip 3: Make use of repetition

To really get your message across, it has to reach your recipient several times. The power of repetition is central here. This way you can post multiple messages around the same theme. Did you write a nice article a while back? Then see if you can use it again in a different way.
In addition, you can also look back at topics that received a lot of reactions and engagement on social media. Can you explain this topic again from a different angle? Repeating your message ensures that your audience remembers it better and is more likely to be convinced to choose your product or service.

Tip 4: Use different types of content

Vary between photos, video, links to articles, and sharing other people's contributions. What type of content best conveys your message? A theoretical message may be best supported by a link to the article on your website. A fun experience with the team, on the other hand, is much more personal and can be shared in the form of a video. You can then look at the statistics to see what kind of content scores best. This variation also ensures that your content remains varied.

The basic rule

Finally, the basic rule when creating content: make sure that all content, in addition to being personal and authentic, is also reliable. As a result, your organisation will generate more awareness and gain loyalty among the target audience.
